Writing Competition

CLOSED

The Odd Historian is hosting a history writing competition open to writers of all ages and nationalities. Winner of the competition will be awarded prize money of 350 USD and will be sent a framed certificate through post. All submissions meeting the required editorial standards will also be considered for publication on the website and their respective authors will be mailed a certificate of participation.

Eligibility

Submissions must be related to history and non-fictional. The article you submit must not be published anywhere else or is in the process of being published before the competition’s end.

What we are looking for

Authenticity

The article you submit must be an original work, not containing any false facts or unsupported claims.

Engaging Content

Write content that engages the reader and is actually enjoyable to read.

General Appeal

Unless it can be done really well, avoid writing on extremely niche and obscure topics.

Instructions

Article submitted must be between 800 – 2000 words in length.

Send your submission in a word document to submissions@oddhistorian.com.

Make sure to add in your email subject ‘Writing Competition’. Only those with this included in their subject line will be considered eligible for the competition.

Add your name and email address in the article submission as well.

The deadline for submitting entries is September 1, 2019
